"When life becomes too complicated and we feel overwhelmed, it is often useful just to stand back and remind ourselves of our overall purpose, our overall goal. When faced with a feeling of stagnation and confusion, it may be helpful to take an hour, an afternoon or even several days to simply reflect on what it is that will truly bring us happiness, and then reset our priorities on the basis of that...

...We may decide, for instance to get married, to have children or to embark on a career of study to become a lawyer, an artist or an electrician. The firm resolve to become happy, to learn about the factors that lead to happiness and take positive steps to build a happier life - can be just such a decision."

"The turning-toward happiness as a valid goal and the conscious decision to seek happiness in a systematic manner can profoundly change the rest of our lives."

Makes sense. Thanks for sharing. And now that I am reading it, I think I will share what I understand of this pretty bird.

Let me recollect how I was a happy child earlier. To be honest, won't say I was completely a happy child. There were pains that I would hide under my layers. Would do things that would satisfy me. Would seek pleasure from small small goals. I never made any big goals, honestly. You may find it weird, but the philosophy was simple. Big goals requires a different animal inside (not me). With time, you lose patience. With time, you get into that frustration of seeing things not coming. What I am trying to say is... You may get happiness when you achieve the goal, but still, the distance (depending upon how big it is) you cover before achieving it, can become the burden.

It doesn't mean that you should not have big goals/great dreams. You must have. But alongside, have small goals/small dreams.

Happiness is very much an individual thing. Everyone has to find way to his/her happiness. There are no general rules for happiness. It is a very much personalized entity.
